The earnings report showed that times are tough but companies are doing better than previously anticipated, which is encouraging and helped the stock market to continue its rally. Another positive point that helped spur the market on is that the number of people continuing to seek unemployment dropped as well. All the positive news is creating hope the longest recession since World War II might finally come to an end this year.
